This special excursion event is tailored to obtain the BTC's Beaver Valley Mushroom Hunter Badge.
The group will rendezvous at one of the designated parking areas and complete a 10-15 kilometre section of the main Bruce Trail to hunt mushrooms together. Our guide will navigate the trail and catalogue the mushrooms located throughout, providing identification and insight into each specimen discovered (i.e., edibility, uses, distinguishing properties, etc.).
Note: Personal information (mailing address) will need to be provided so that Badges can be mailed to participants.
Difficulty: Moderate
Some difficult terrain possible, on trails that are established and regularly maintained. Blood Sacrifices to the Mosquito Horde are mostly optional, depending on precautions taken. Local critters are generally tolerant of visitors, with only mild abuse occasionally shouted from the treetops.
While the goal of these excursions is to hunt mushrooms, harvesting specimens discovered will not be permitted per the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Club's regulations. Instead, the objective is to locate, identify and catalogue our findings in order to qualify for and obtain the Club's Mushroom Hunter Badge.
