Terms & Conditions

Spore & Lore Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides guided educational and foraging excursions and access to our website and online content. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our services, website, and associated offerings. By purchasing tickets or participating in our excursions or workshops, you confirm that (i) you are legally able to agree to these terms, and (ii) you agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions.
1. Description of Services
Spore & Lore Inc. offers guided educational excursions focusing on foraging wild mushrooms, plants, and related topics. We reserve the right to modify these services at our discretion.
2. Tickets and Booking Policies
a. Ticket Purchases
- All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Payments are due in full upon booking unless specified.
- Spore & Lore Inc. is not responsible for any additional charges imposed by financial institutions, credit card providers, or payment processors, including but not limited to foreign exchange fees, international transaction charges, or credit card surcharges.
- Booking Fees charged at check-out are fully non-refundable.
- All tickets are non-refundable, including cases where participants are unable to attend for any reason.
- Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and are confirmed only upon receipt of payment.
- Underage tickets can only be purchased in combination with the purchase of an adult ticket.
- Underage tickets may not be available for purchase for certain Excursions, Events or Workshops at Spore & Lore Inc.’s discretion.
- A maximum of two (2) underage tickets may be purchased per adult ticket (subject to availability).
- Underage tickets may not be purchased for or redeemed by persons whose age will be fourteen (14) years or younger, or nineteen (19) years or older, as of the date of the ticketed Excursion, Event or Workshop.
- By completing a ticket purchase, participants acknowledge and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
- By purchasing or redeeming tickets and participating in Spore & Lore Inc.’s Excursions, Events or Workshops, participants expressly acknowledge and agree to be bound by Spore & Lore Inc.’s Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk, which can be found here. Participation without agreement to this waiver is strictly prohibited.
b. Ticket Transfers
Tickets may be transferred to another participant of the same ticket type (e.g., underage tickets cannot be transferred to adults), subject to Spore & Lore Inc.’s prior approval.
- Ticket transfers must be requested in writing at least five (5) business days before the scheduled Excursion, Event or Workshop.
- Spore & Lore Inc. reserves the right to deny transfer requests at its sole discretion.
c. Ticket Exchanges
Tickets may be exchanged for a different date of the same Excursion, Event or Workshop type, subject to Spore & Lore Inc.’s prior approval.
- Ticket exchanges must be requested in writing at least five (5) business days before the scheduled date of the ticketed Excursion, Event or Workshop.
- Spore & Lore Inc. reserves the right to deny exchange requests at its sole discretion.
d. Weather and Rescheduling
- All Excursions, Events, Workshops and related activities are rain or shine; refunds will not be issued for inclement weather.
- Refunds due to extreme weather events (e.g., severe storms) will be made solely at our discretion.
- Spore & Lore Inc. reserves the right to modify the location, date, or time of any Excursion, Event or Workshop. Affected ticket holders will be notified promptly, and no refunds will be issued unless the event is canceled.
- In the event Spore & Lore Inc. cancels an Excursion, Event or Workshop, affected ticket holders may either receive a refund minus the non-refundable booking fee, or ticket for the same excursion, event or workshop type at a future date, subject to availability.
e. Force Majeure
Spore & Lore Inc. shall not be held liable for any failure or delay in performance of its obligations due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, “acts of god”, war, strikes, pandemics, government-imposed restrictions, or any other events that render performance impossible, impracticable, or unsafe. No refunds or compensation shall be owed in such cases unless otherwise determined at Spore & Lore Inc.’s sole discretion.
f. No-Show Policy
Failure to attend an Excursion, Event or Workshop without prior notification will result in the forfeiture of your ticket.
g. Minimum Enrollment
Spore & Lore Inc. reserves the right to cancel any excursion, event or workshop if the minimum number of required ticket sales for that excursion, event or workshop is not met. In such cases, affected ticket holders will be offered the opportunity to transfer their ticket to the same excursion, event or workshop type on a future date (subject to availability), or receive a refund minus the non-refundable booking fee.
3. Participant Responsibilities
a. Registration
All participants must complete and return Spore & Lore Inc.'s Participant Registration Form before the ticketed Excursion, Event or Workshop. The Participant Registration Form can be downloaded from and submitted through the Registration page here.
Submission is mandatory for all adult and underage participants. Those who fail to submit the Participant Registration Form may be denied participation without refund.
b. Identification
Participants may be required to present government-issued photo identification during the check-in stage of all Excursions, Events or Workshops to verify age or confirm ticket ownership. Failure to provide identification when requested may result in denial of participation without refund.
c. Preparation
- Participants are strongly advised to carry their Provincial Health Card (or equivalent health coverage identification) in case emergency medical attention is required. Adult ticket holders are responsible for ensuring all underage ticket holders in their care bring their respective Provincial Health Card (or equivalent health coverage identification).
- Participants must bring at least one form of government-issued photo identification. Adult ticket holders are responsible for ensuring all underage ticket holders in their care bring their respective government-issued photo identification.
- Adult ticket holders are responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, footwear, sun and insect protection, and ensuring that all underage ticket holders in their care do the same.
- Adult ticket holders are responsible for obtaining and bringing all gear they and any underage ticket holders in their care will require for their safety, comfort and enjoyment of the excursion.

d. Adult Supervision
- Adult ticket holders may not be responsible for more than two (2) underage ticket holders.
- All persons eighteen (18) years of age and under are considered underage and must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
- Adults holding tickets purchased in conjunction with underage tickets are fully responsible for the safety, transportation, behaviour, and well-being of those underage ticket holders. This includes carrying underage ticket holders who are unable to keep up or become tired during the excursion.
- Adults must actively supervise and ensure the safety, appropriate behaviour, and compliance of all underage ticket holders under their care throughout the excursion.
e. Conduct Policy
Participants are bound to comply with Spore & Lore Inc.’s Code of Conduct, which outlines behavioural expectations and policies regarding prohibited activities. Violations may result in dismissal without refund. The full Code of Conduct can be found here.
4. Transportation and Parking
Participants are solely responsible for their own transportation to and from all Excursions, Events, Workshop and any related activities, including any associated parking fees for on-site or nearby parking providers as may be applicable.
5. Photography & Media Release
Participants may be photographed or recorded during all Excursions, Events, Workshops and related activities. By participating, you agree to the terms outlined in Spore & Lore Inc.’s Photography & Media Release, which can van be found here. If you do not consent, you must submit a written opt-out request as per the instructions in the Photography & Media Release form.
6. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms & Conditions are governed exclusively by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes, controversies or claims arising from its terms shall first be resolved through mediation. If mediation is unsuccessful, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration within Ontario in accordance with the Arbitration Act, 1991, unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties in writing.
7. Changes to These Terms
Spore & Lore Inc. reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will take effect upon posting to our website. Continued participation or use of our services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
8. Enforcement
These Terms & Conditions apply to all participants and website users at the time of their engagement with Spore & Lore Inc. Updates to its terms apply prospectively and will not retroactively affect prior engagements unless explicitly stated. If any provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
